He served as member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives 1914-1916. He served in the State senate 1916-1918.
Aldrich was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1923-March 3, 1933). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1932. He resumed legal pursuits in Providence, Rhode Island, until his death there on December 25, 1941. He was interred in Swan Point Cemetery.
